Horizon Europe project EMBRACE successful inaugural meeting

Horizon Europe project EMBRACE held its inaugural meeting on 24 and 25 October 2024 in Athens, Greece. Project partners from 14 participating countries came together to kick off the project and lay the groundwork for its success. The meeting was conducted by the project coordinator, TELESTO Technologies.
The first day of the meeting featured a comprehensive overview of the project's objectives and introductions from all participating partners, while the second concentrated on specific project tasks. Introductory presentations from project partner representatives Paul Thomas (Bioxhale), Jon Hall (RAN), Kurt Zatloukal (Medical University Graz), Hanna Hakulinen (VERIFIN) and Makoto Sawano (SMU), followed by an engaging presentation from Christine Uhlenhaut, United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA), set the tone for the next three years.
About EMBRACE
EMBRACE (Pan-European Management of Biological toxin incidents through standaRdisAtion initiatives for Crisis response Enhancement) is a forward-thinking initiative under the Horizon Europe programme, addressing the critical need for enhanced crisis management strategies tailored to biological toxin incidents. Recognising the unique complexities of biotoxin crises, the project seeks to fill gaps in current protocols derived from broader Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) frameworks.
Over its 36-month duration, EMBRACE aims to revolutionise Europe's biotoxin incident response capabilities by integrating advanced scientific knowledge, innovative technologies, robust operational approaches, and a robust wide network of stakeholders.
The 18 EMBRACE partners from 14 countries include TELESTO Technologies, The Resilience Advisors Network, Disaster Competence Network Austria, Austrian Red Cross, Pompiers de l'Urgence Internationale, Medical University Graz, Finnish Institute for Verification of the Chemical Weapons Convention (VERIFIN), Saitama Medical University (SMU), BioTalentum Ltd, Bioxhale Ltd, AIRSENSE Analytics GmbH, MOBILITY ION TECHNOLOGIES SL, Prometech, IANUS Technologies, The Lisbon Council, Technological Platform Energy Security Czech Republic, Czech Standardization Agency and the Slovak Office of Standards, Metrology and Testing.
