Save the Date: EMBRACE 2025 – Scientific Pathways to Biotoxin Preparedness
1 August, 2025
15 October 2025 | OPCW ChemTech Centre, The Hague, Netherlands | Hybrid Format
In an age of growing biological threats, Europe is taking action.
Join us for EMBRACE 2025, an international symposium hosted by the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) and promoted within the framework of EMBRACE, a Horizon Europe Research and Innovation Action funded by the European Union.
This one-day hybrid event will bring together leading scientists, innovators, and policymakers to explore new scientific pathways toward preparedness for biotoxin-related incidents, one of the most pressing challenges in biosecurity today.

Why attend?
- Explore cutting-edge science: Discover the latest research on biotoxins and human biomarkers of intoxication, with presentations aligned with the EMBRACE project's scientific and technological programme.
- Understand the EMBRACE approach: Gain insight into the project’s goals, methodology, and results—focused on standardisation, innovation, and cross-border collaboration.
- Connect with the Biotoxin Task Force; Be part of the official launch of the Biotoxin Task Force, a pan-European knowledge network designed to enhance cooperation, mutual learning, and operational readiness in the face of biological toxin incidents.
- Engage in high-level discussion: Take part in a policy and science dialogue featuring leading voices from defence, public safety, international policing, and scientific research.
Confirmed speakers include:
- Daan Noort (OPCW)
- Gwyn Winfield (CBRNe World)
- Dimitrios Drakoulis (EMBRACE Coordinator)
- Fanny Ewann (INTERPOL)
- Anne Bossée (CBRN Defense, France)
- Crister Åstot (Swedish Defence Research Agency)
- Mirjam de Bruin-Hoegée (TNO, Netherlands)
